Self Sponsorship

This section contains general information on the concept of self sponsorship, and requirements for the same. As a general rule, it is not possible to obtain a work visa without a visa sponsor (employing company, etc.), with the exception of a few special visas such as visas for journalists and established artists. However, in practice, the concept of the “visa sponsor” is quite broad, and thus under specific circumstances it is possible to obtain a work visa while contracting with a company (rather than a direct employment) or working for several companies at the same time. Also, when the necessary criteria is met, it is possible for an applicant to establish his/her own company and obtain a visa through that company, which may also be classified as a form of self sponsorship.
